Logan Water Alliance receives award
11/11/2016
The Logan Water Infrastructure Alliance (LoganWIA) has received a 2016 Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (Qld) Excellence Award.
This award was given under the Water, Wastewater and Drought Management Category.
Logan Water Infrastructure Alliance is a public and private sector enterprise involving Downer, Logan City Council, Cardno and WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff.
The award recognised our team's efforts to upgrade the Alfred Street Pump Station at Slacks Creek.
Christian Truscott, LoganWIA Program Manager in Downer’s Infrastructure Services Utilities business said: "As Logan City’s largest wastewater pump station, the Alfred Street pump station at Slacks Creek has continuously provided wastewater transport services to the city for more than three decades.
“By 2010, the pump station had become inefficient, uneconomical to operate and posed safety risks to operators. To transform the site, Logan City Council’s Logan Water Infrastructure Alliance planned, designed and delivered a $7.7 million upgrade to improve the pump station’s efficiency, pumping capacity and safe access for operation and maintenance.
“Almost $1 million was saved by reusing existing pump station components and the project showcased innovative design and construction methods."
Congratulations to the team on the award.
