Context/Challenge

Air New Zealand is embarking on a project to expand its engineering hangar footprint. With the current workshop dating back to the early days of the airline’s inception, they need a larger space to manage the fleet’s maintenance activities. Before they could begin construction, the airline needed help to identify the location of critical infrastructure.

Solution

We implemented a combination of electromagnetic location (EML) and Ground Penetrating Rader (GPR) to pinpoint the locations of all underground utilities’ infrastructure. We also completed a full CCTV inspection and condition report on all sewer pipes.

Key Outcomes

Air New Zealand now has a comprehensive map of all underground utilities, replacing the inaccurate and incomplete records held previously. The airline is now able to undertake this expansion project with confidence that all infrastructure can be safeguarded during construction.
